First peat-free indoor plant soil
Fungus gnats find an ideal breeding ground to multiply in potting soils with a high compost content. To reduce the risk of infestation, Frux has developed a peat-free potting soil without compost and with mineral instead of organic fertilisers.
The secret of Terra Preta: biochar
The secret is the biochar that we have integrated into our Frux Terra Preta, a peat-free organic vegetable soil. Due to its large, porous surface, biochar soaks up nutrients and soil organisms like a sponge. Its carbon is a favourite food for microorganisms. They break down the organic matter and convert it into humus- and nutrient-rich soil.
Higher soil fertility and yields
What are the benefits? Terra Preta permanently increases the fertility of the soil, as carbon is difficult to break down biologically and chemically and therefore remains in the soil for a long time. Because Terra Preta has a higher water and nutrient-retaining effect than standard soils due to the biochar it contains, water and fertiliser consumption is reduced. Especially in nutrient-poor, sandy soils, Terra Preta naturally increases growth and yields and minimises the failure rate of new plantings.
Better water and nutrient retention in a duet with natural clay
The basis of our humus-rich and high-yield frux Terra Preta is a peat-free raw material mixture of natural clay, wood fibre, bark humus and compost, as used in other organic soils. In addition to the biochar, the natural clay also buffers water and nutrients. Both release these evenly to the plant as required.
Simple application
The ready-to-use frux Terra Preta is no different to other soils in terms of application. It is suitable for planting in pots and trays, for permanent soil improvement in vegetable beds or for creating new planting areas. In addition, frux Terra Preta can be used as a vegetation layer in raised beds.
